In Singapore, ethical AI is defined by the principles set forth in the Model AI Governance Framework developed by the IMDA and PDPC. These principles emphasize fairness, transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights, establishing the foundation for responsible AI development and deployment. 


Human-Centricity AI systems are designed to prioritize human well-being, enhancing capabilities and improving quality of life. In critical sectors like healthcare, law enforcement, and finance, AI supports decision-making, but human judgment must remain paramount, ensuring ethical considerations are maintained. 


Fairness To ensure fairness, AI systems must rely on well-vetted training data to prevent discrimination based on protected characteristics. This principle aims to deliver equitable outcomes for all individuals, promoting accessibility and effectiveness across diverse demographic groups. 


Transparency AI transparency involves clarifying decision-making processes without exposing every technical detail. By clearly explaining AI decisions—such as loan application outcomes—organizations can build trust and support accountability, enabling stakeholders to evaluate and challenge decisions when needed. 


Accountability Organizations are accountable for their AI outcomes and must have mechanisms to address any negative impacts. Human oversight is key, with regular audits and the ability to override AI decisions, maintaining system integrity and public confidence. 


These principles form the cornerstone of ethical AI in Singapore, guiding organizations in developing AI that balances innovation with societal values. By adhering to these guidelines, organizations can ensure their AI initiatives are both innovative and socially responsible, aligning technological advancements with broader societal goals.
