A Report by CYS Global Remit Human Resource Management UnitÂ
Hello everyone!Â
Welcome back to our Mental Wellness Sharing series! Today, we're diving into how climate change impacts our mental health and how some of our fantastic colleagues at CYS manage their mental well-being. Let’s turn this serious topic into an enlightening and uplifting discussion.Â
🌿 The Sneaky Ways Climate Change Affects UsÂ
We all know about the physical effects of climate change—pollution, spreading diseases, and even food shortages. But did you know it can also mess with our minds? Enter eco-anxiety! This is the constant worry about the future of our planet and its inhabitants. Â
Scientists are seeing more heatwaves, floods, hurricanes—you name it—thanks to the changing climate. According to the 2018 National Climate Assessment, these extreme weather events are getting worse and more frequent. And guess what? It’s not just affecting our environment but also our mental peace. Increased heat can make us more irritable, aggressive, and even impact conditions like anxiety and schizophrenia. Even if we’re not directly hit by natural disasters, the constant warm weather and scary news can make us anxious.Â
🌟 How CYS Global Remit Colleagues Stay Sane (and You Can, too!)Â
But don’t worry, we’ve got some great tips from our very own CYS family on how they keep their cool:Â
Meet J. Yoon, our Business Analyst and youngest team member at CYS.Â
Jason admits he feels anxious about how climate change might impact his future. Instead of bottling it up, he talks openly with his family and friends. Finding people who share his concerns helps him express himself better, reducing his worries and making him feel less alone. Plus, he finds comfort in chatting with older colleagues, which boosts his mental resilience.Â
Then there’s Lee Tiong Jun, our Payment Service Support Manager.Â
Lee has been with CYS for a decade! How does he handle stress and burnout? By taking regular breaks and avoiding overworking himself. He believes in staying involved with environmental causes but knows burnout helps no one. Sometimes, taking a breather and engaging in calming activities like a peaceful walk in nature can work wonders.Â

🌈 Tips to Keep Your ChillÂ
We can’t control the climate, but we can control how it affects our daily lives. Here’s how:Â
Take Breaks: Don’t let work consume all your time. Step away to recharge.Â
Talk it Out: Share your worries with close friends and family. It really helps.Â
Find Your Zen: Engage in activities that relax and calm you.Â
Remember, while we might not be able to stop climate change, we can certainly manage how it affects us. Let's support each other and share tips on staying mentally strong amidst these changes.Â
Stay cool and stay strong, CYS family!Â
